Robert Lawrence Grimmett, 67, of Litchfield, died the morning of Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
There are no services planned at this time for Mr. Grimmett.
Mr. Grimmett was born in Detroit, MI, on December 4, 1958, a son of Hulen Lawrence and Norma Jean (Fairburn) Grimmett.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and attended San Diego Tech where he earned certification in welding. He also graduated from Christ for the Nations Institute, in Dallas, TX, in 1997. He married the former Dawn Jean Anderson on September 14, 1985, in Rockford.
Mr. Grimmett was a man of many trades, professions, interests and talents. In addition to welding, he was head grounds manager/property manager of two lakefront resorts, worked in both auto and telecommunications sales, and owned a window cleaning business. He was an ordained minister and was passionate about sharing his faith and connecting in conversation with everyone he came in contact with. He lived on and in between both of the United States coasts, including the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, prior to moving to Litchfield. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved his adventures around Litchfield, where he could be found tooling around on his mobility scooter.
Mr. Grimmett is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Dawn Grimmett; his children, Nathaniel Grimmett, Samuel (Mandolyn) Mackenzie, Rebekah Grimmett and Abigail Grimmett; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Christopher, Valor and Windsor; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulen L. and Norma J. Grimmett; and his siblings, John Grimmett, Joseph Grimmett, Shirley Grimmett, Virginia “Ginny” Mathis and Patricia Faulkner.
