Patty Sue Nichols Reents, 87, of Litchfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
A memorial service will be held at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Monday, Feb. 12, at 4 p.m. Visitation will follow until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery in Litchfield. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reents was born on March 31, 1936, in Hillsboro, to the late Don and Juanita (Mobley) Nichols. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1954 and attended SIU Carbondale. She also obtained her associates degree at Christ For the Nations Institute (CFNI) in Dallas, TX. She married Dr. Harold L. “Diz” Reents on Dec. 31, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2020.
Mrs. Reents taught at the elementary school at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for several years and she was most proud to be a homemaker.
Countless people have considered Mr. and Mrs. Reents as “spiritual parents” and mentors, from their family to individuals worldwide. They wanted to help foreign students start Bible colleges in their home countries. This led to them assisting the start of Bible colleges in Asia, Australia and Africa.
Mrs. Reents is survived by her five children, Mike (Marianne) Reents of Spokane, WA, Tim (Cindy) Reents of Litchfield, Beth (Olda) Hetych of Owosso, MI, Laura Coates of Saginaw, TX, and Chris (Kevin) Kelly of Granbury, TX; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Diz; and a sister, Kay Smith.
