Panthers Stay Hot At Litchfield Country Club

The Litchfield girls golf team hasn’t lost a match since falling to Glenwood in their season opener on Aug. 16, and the Panthers extended that streak on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at their home course.

With all four scoring rounds in the 50s or better, Litchfield shot a 181 to beat a solid Auburn squad by 17 strokes. Roxana and Vandalia tied for third with a pair of 219s, while Greenville sent three golfers to the match as well.

The Panthers captured the top two spots individually, with Laura Boston earning medalist honors with a 41. Carly Guinn would be just three strokes behind her teammate with a 44, while that trend continued with a 47 from Hailey Rentz and a 50 from Lauren Monke.

Charlotte Gardner added in a 61 and Olivia Fleming finished with a 69 for the Panthers, who improved to 9-1 with the win.

All told Litchfield had four of the top seven individual scores, with Auburn’s Shelby Seiler (45) and Riley Bess (50) and Roxana’s Reagan Lynn (48) the only opponents to break through.

Litchfield will be on the road for their next match as they play Roxana and Civic Memorial at Clover Leaf Golf Course in Bethalto on Sept. 9.
