Nicole “Niki” Wieland, 52, of Nokomis, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at her boyfriend’s home in Ramsey.

A visitation will be held for Mrs. Wieland Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Her family requests that everyone please dress comfy and casual. Cremation rites have been accorded and no memorial services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Wieland was born Jan. 21, 1971, in Pana, the daughter of John Edward and Tincie Irene (Morey) Sabol. She graduated from Nokomis High School and continued her education at Lake Land College. For the majority of her life, she has been a member of the Nokomis community. A stay-at-home mom until her family was raised, Mrs. Wieland worked for International Dairy Queen and as a bank teller in Ohio and as a bookkeeper at Bank of Hillsboro.

A kind and caring person, Mrs. Wieland had a big, beautiful heart and was full of compassion. She could also be stubborn as the day is long and was known as a “sassy smartass” to family and friends. She loved spending time with her sons, her family and her friends. Mrs. Wieland also enjoyed dogs, especially her dog Lego, reading, riding UTVs and motorcycles, cookouts, fish fries and was quite the baker. She enjoyed being out on her boyfriend’s farm, a place where she found her peace and calm and could rest from the stresses of life and enjoy nature, the quiet and tranquility.

Mrs. Wieland is survived by her mother, Tincie Sabol of Nokomis; her sons, Zachary Michael Wieland and Jacob Nicholas Wieland, both of Nokomis; her boyfriend of many years, Rick Kroeger of Ramsey; siblings Dawn Marie Sabol and John Joseph “JJ” (Erin Noel) Sabol, both of Nokomis; nieces and nephews Brayden, Carter, Audrey and Alivia Sabol; Kroeger’s children, Christy (Chris) Boggs and Broc (Amanda Kettelkamp) Kroeger; and Kroeger’s grandchildren, Stella and Gunnar Boggs. She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Cancer Association, 106 Pinnacle Pointe Drive, Hillsboro, IL, 62049. Condolences may be left online at www.stiehldawsonfh.com.
