Longwall mining subsidence has created a disaster area on Route 185 between Taylor Springs and Coffeen.
A large section of both lanes has sunk considerably and traffic is down to one lane. The pavement is severely cracked in many places. There are mini-lakes on both sides of the road.
From what I remember about the mining plans, this is just the beginning of instances such as this. My question is simply, who is paying for the remediation efforts on the state highway and the adjacent farmland?
