Michael Andrew Homa, 60, of Hillsboro, died on Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Abbey on Broad in Hillsboro. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Homa was born Feb. 3, 1962, in Hillsboro, to Leonard “Lenny” and Phyllis (Short) Homa. He married Betsy Ann Cox on March 6, 1982, in Hillsboro, and she survives.

Raised in Taylor Springs, he graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1980.

Mr. Homa worked hard all his life as an employee of the family business, Homa Distributors, was a Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy, an operator at Coffeen Power Station and worked in maintenance at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.

He was an avid golfer and proud member of the Hillsboro Country Club. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially his two grandsons. He was known for his larger than life personality and wonderful sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Homa is survived by his son, Nicholas (Meghan) Homa of Maplewood, MO; daughter, Katie (husband Dylan Richter) Homa of Hillsboro; his mother, Phyllis Homa of Taylor Springs; two sisters, Mona (Joe) Wallace and Sally (Mike) McCoy, both of Taylor Springs; two grandsons, Deklen and Finn Homa of Maplewood, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
