Mary Jane Harms, 75, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 4:29 a.m. at her residence.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Living Stones Church in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jay Martin officiating. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Litchfield Family Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Mrs. Harms was born March 20, 1947, at her family’s home in Staunton, to Harold and Daisey Mae (Tilley) Cavinder. She married Glenn Carl Harms on Nov. 3, 1995, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and he survives.

She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1965. Over the years, she worked at Roller Derby, Superior Sports and the Christian Book Store, all in Litchfield. Most recently, she was employed by Bank and Trust Company in Litchfield as a bank teller for 19 years. She retired at the age of 70.

Mrs. Harms was a member of Living Stones Church in Litchfield. She was always lending a helping hand when she could and will be remembered for her kindness she always showed to everyone.

She loved to read and nurture her garden and spend time researching her family tree and genealogy. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Georgia.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Harms is survived by her children, Terri (Robert) Stocker of Carlinville, Brian (Carrie) Jett of Donnellson, Aimee (Harold) Summann and Kelly (Grant) Harms-Sefton, both of Vandalia; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Donna Cavinder, Kay Barto and Judy Havron.
