Mary J. Carroll, 61, of Sorento, died on Sept. 15, 2026, at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Carroll was born on July 30, 1965, in Granite City, the daughter of Charles and Velma (Burns) Spivey. She married David Walter Carroll at the courthouse in Edwardsville, on Oct. 31, 1997, sharing over 28 years of marriage.
She was a loving mother and grandmother to her son, Ruben and her grandson, Xavier, and a beloved wife to her husband, David. She cherished her family above all else.
Mrs. Carroll was a giving person and an animal lover, especially devoted to her dogs and cat, which she adopted through the Metro East Humane Society. In her free time, she enjoyed antiquing and listening to classic rock. She especially enjoyed taking her grandson to Six Flags and Holiday World, creating lasting memories for her family. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and friend anyone could ask for.
Surviving Mrs. Carroll are her husband, David Carroll of Sorento; son, Ruben Vasquez of Sorento; grandson, Xavier Vasquez of Sorento; and siblings, Rick (Merida) Wilkiewicz of Fort Worth, TX, Larry (Debbie) Wilkiewicz of Granite City and Brenda Spivey Partain of Rosiclare.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and brother, Terry Spivey.
In memory of Mrs. Carroll, the family asks that memorials be given in lieu of flowers, plants and other gifts to the Metro East Humane Society, 8495 IL-143, Edwardsville, IL 62025.
