Mary Beth Weston, 81, of Hillsboro, died at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on Aug. 3, 2026.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at Waveland Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Pastor Randy Sands officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Hough-Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mrs. Weston was born in Hillsboro on Jan. 26, 1945, a daughter of Frank and Thelma (Blackwood) Frkovich. She graduated with the Hillsboro High School class of 1963. On Sept. 9, 1966, she and Ronnald Weston were married in Brunswick, GA. Together they built their family and enjoyed nearly 38 years together, until his passing in 2004.
When her children were young, she enjoyed sewing, creating many of their clothes. She loved decorating her house for each holiday and keeping a flower garden. She hosted wiener roasts for neighborhood get togethers, which continued even after all the kids were out of the house. She loved music, especially Elvis Presley’s. She enjoyed dancing with her husband; watching them beautifully guide across the floor together was a treat.
Mrs. Weston was more than a homemaker and housewife with seven children; she was well known for baking and decorating special occasion cakes, which she loved creating. Many considered her cakes the best around. Some of her children like to joke that she was a stripper, as she enjoyed stripping and refurbishing furniture. She hung wallpaper, sold Avon, Tupperware and Princess House Crystal. For a time, she worked at the Golf Shop while she and Ron resided in Wildwood, FL. After her husband’s passing, she enjoyed special outings to “go to the boat” with her freinds. She will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered as a wonderful, special person and mother.
She is survived by her children, Deanne Weston of Hillsboro, Deon Weston of Girard, Brian Weston of Hillsboro and Missy Gibson of Springfield; grandchildren, Jarrod Gansner of Hillsboro, Sally Wells of Hillsboro, Jami Scheldt of Alton, Erica Petcher of Hillsboro, Colin Calufetti of Girard, Abby Calufetti of Carlinville, Keely Davis of Hillsboro and Dayn Gibson of Hillsboro; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jennifer Wankel of Greene, NY.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Weston was preceded in death by three children, Mark Steven Weston, Douglas Kent Weston and Laurie Jo Gansner; one grandson, Jeremy Weston; and two siblings, Jeffery Frkovich and Janielle Seaton Schraut.
