Marion C. “Sonny” Basso, 90, of Walshville, died on Monday, Aug. 23, 2021 in Callaway County, MO due to a result of a motor vehicle accident with his wife, Linda Rose Basso.
Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at SS Simon & Jude Church, in Gillespie. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie. Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Litchfield, to Marion J. Basso & Mary T. (Tkach) Basso. He married Linda Rose (Rekart) Basso on Aug. 28, 1993 in Mt. Olive.
Mr. Basso was a lineman for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company. He was a veteran, having served with the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Springfield and Elks Club of Litchfield. He enjoyed R/C airplanes, riding horses and leather burning.
He is survived by his sister, Doris Dooley of St. Louis, MO; nieces and nephews, Thomas Dooley of St. Louis, MO, Deborah (Brett) West of Madison, IN, Karen (Elmer) Gaus of Chesterfield, MO, Jeanne (Don) Server of Hanover, IN; great nieces and great nephews, Alex Gaus, Travis Server, Mark Server, Heather Boots, Rob Rohrer, Lisa (Brandon) Mack; and great great nieces and nephews, Jenna Rohrer, Olivia Mack, Jake Mack and Luke Mack.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents.
