Margaret “Eileen” (Collins) Gress, 85, of Iberia, MO, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Miller County Nursing Home in Tuscumbia, MO.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Litchfield at a later date. Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, MO, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Gress was born Oct. 28, 1936, in Jerseyville, to David and Maggie (Baum) Collins. She married William R. Gress, Jr. on Nov. 5, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1989.
She was a graduate of Jerseyville Community High School. She went on to become a real estate broker for Holzinger Real Estate and Simpson Real Estate companies in Litchfield from 1978 to 2000.
Mrs. Gress traveled to Ireland three times and had a dual citizenship in Ireland and the U.S.A. She was an accomplished artist and had many portraits and landscaping oil paintings. She also loved to quilt and made many quilts for family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen “Kathie” Thomas Humphrey of Iberia, MO; six grandchildren, Megan Gress, Brad Thomas, Mitchell Hancock, Morgan Gress, Alicia Hancock and Maggie Mathes; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gress was preceded in death by her parents; and three children, Cheryl (Gress) Hancock, William R. Gress III and Margaret Michelle “Shelly” (Gress) Mathes; and son-in-law, Earl Wayne Humphrey.
