The Lynch Motorsports family provided some early Independence Day fireworks on July 3, as they raced in the Firecracker 40s at Macon Speedway.
The 14E of Evan Lynch and the 14N of Nathan Lynch, along with the Lynch’s cousin Justin Reynolds in the 3X, all found themselves in the first heat of the DIRTcar Pro-Mod race. The qualifying races wouldn’t be too kind to the team as they finished fifth, sixth and seventh in the eight-car field.
That meant all three would have to start near the back and work their way up to challenge for the win in the feature. While they didn’t make it all the way to the front, both Lynchs and Reynolds all improved on their starting positions in the race.
Evan Lynch, who started 14th, would make the biggest jump as he finished a season-best fourth overall. Nathan Lynch would move up four spots to finish sixth, while Justin Reynolds was 10th after starting 11th.
Macon will be a home away from home of sorts for the next few days for the Lynch Motorsports crew as they plan to race in the Herald and Review 100 on July 8 and Fireman’s Ball and First Responders Night event on July 10.
May and June Racing
After rain wreaked havoc on the early season schedule, the weather has been more cooperative after the start of the month. The Lynch Motorsports family raced three times in May, with all three races at Macon Speedway.
All three Lynch brothers, plus Justin Reynolds and Kevin Rench would race on May 15 in Macon in the DIRTcar Pro-Mod class.
The group would come home with three top 10s, with Nathan Lynch finishing seventh and Justin Reynolds taking eighth. Evan Lynch grabbed the tenth, just ahead of Brady Lynch and Kevin Rench, who were 11th and 12th.
The following week, May 22, four of the five would be back as Nathan Lynch finished a season-best fourth, followed by Justin Reynolds in ninth, Evan Lynch in 12th and Kevin Rench in 13th. Bryan Leach of Harvel also raced in the Modified class, finishing 14th overall.
After a string of solid finishes, the Lynch Motorsports crew took one on the chin to close out May on May 31. Evan Lynch was the highest finisher in 11th, followed by Kevin Rench in 12th, Justin Reynolds in 14th and Nathan Lynch in 16th, with his only
DNF (did not finish) of the season thus far.
June was a new month though, and Evan Lynch and Kevin Rench tried their luck at a different track on Jun 4. Running at Lincoln Speedway, Lynch finished fourth after taking second in his heat race, while Rench came in 11th.
The group was back at Macon on June 5. All four racers finished in the top eight, with Nathan Lynch coming in fifth after starting 12th. Kevin Lynch was just behind him in sixth, followed by Justin Reynolds in seventh and Evan Lynch in eighth.
A rare voyage to Farmer City Raceway followed on June 11, with Evan Lynch taking fifth and Nathan Lynch coming in seventh in the Pro Modified class.
The following day in Macon, Nathan Lynch picked up his third top five finish of the year, taking fifth after starting 11th. Kevin Rench also made a big jump, going from 14th to eighth, while Justin Reynolds was 10th. Evan Lynch would suffer his first DNF at Macon, finishing 15th.
Going into Thursday’s race at Macon, Nathan Lynch and Justin Reynolds are seventh and eighth in Pro Mod points, while Kevin Rench is 10th. Evan Lynch is just outside the top ten in 12th, while Brady Lynch is 21st.
