Lutheran Soccer Slips Past Lincolnwood For Second Time

Posted

For the second time this season the Springfield Lutheran Crusaders got the better of the Lincolnwood soccer team as the Crusaders knocked off the Lancers 2-0 in Raymond on Friday, Sept. 17.

Both Lutheran goals came in the first half, with Duncan Scheidenhelm netting number one with 15 minutes to play, followed by a Reece Butcher tally 13-minutes later.

Both teams would have their chances, but the score stood 2-0 for the remaining time.

The Lancers’ schedule doesn’t get any more friendly as they have another rematch from the Kickoff Classic on Route 66 as they play Hillsboro at the Hillsboro Sports Complex on Monday, Sept. 20.

Lincolnwood not only has the opportunity to avenge an earlier 3-0 loss to the Hiltoppers, but they have the opportunity to temporarily keep Hillsboro Coach Jason Burke from collecting his 200th career win. Game time is at 4:30 p.m.

Sept. 17 at Raymond

Lutheran 2 0 - 2

Lincolnwood 0 0 - 0

Scoring: Duncan Scheidenhelm 1, Reece Butcher 1.

Record: Lincolnwood (5-5).
