Lonnie Clifford Gerdes, 70, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield is assisting the family.
Mr. Gerdes was born Nov. 3, 1951, to Clifford Herman and Mary Lucinda (Vaughn) Gerdes.
He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1970. During his career, he served as a union brick layer for 50 years.
Mr. Gerdes was a member of the Gillespie Bass Club and Litchfield Moose Club. An avid bass fisherman, he would spend every moment he could on the lake, looking for the next big catch. His boats were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed bowling at Litchfield Bowl, and continued bowling until 2018.
He is survived by his brother, Gary (Sharon) Gerdes of Litchfield; sister, Arlene Gerdes of Litchfield; four nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Mr. Gerdes was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, JoAnn Gerdes.
