A display in front of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield marks the one-year anniversary of the pandemic and honors those who have lost their lives to COVID-19 in Montgomery County.
“Part of the church’s duty is to help mark time,” Pastor Cassandra Sexton-Riggs said. “We want our community to know that we are supporting people who are grieving.”
The pastor said the church outreach team began working on the display about a month ago. It includes a heart-filled banner “In memory of those lost to COVID-19 in Montgomery County” behind a field of 71 pink flags–one in memory of every life lost here.
The church is also working on another outreach that will soon be placing signs in yards around the community. Those signs will read, “Save a life. Get a vaccine.”
