Lincolnwood Girls Split At Home

The Lincolnwood girls golf team picked up their first win of the 2021 season as they welcomed North Mac and South County to Shoal Creek Golf Course in Raymond on Monday, Aug. 16.

The Lancers would finish second in the three-team meet, which also featured golfers from Greenville and Mt. Olive. The home squad shot a 238 on the day, beating South County by six strokes, but falling to North Mac by seven.

Lincolnwood’s top three of Jhia Walker, Shelby Hattenbach and Marisa Webb were tightly grouped on the final scorecard, with just three strokes separating the three golfers. Walker shot a team-best 56 on the day, while Hattenbach added a 58 and Webb finished with a 59.

The fourth scoring round came from Kaylee Gerlach, who is still recovering from an ankle injury. Gerlach finished the day with a 65 after missing Lincolnwood’s appearance at the Meridian Invitational.

Freshmen Anna Jones and Jenna Matli also played in the match and shot matching rounds of 73.

South County’s Grace Rector earned medalist honors for the match, beating teammate Emma Points by one stroke.

Lincolnwood will be back in action on Thursday, Aug. 19, against Greenville and Ramsey-Nokomis, with tee times set at 4 p.m. for the Greenville Country Club.
