Like Father, Like Son As Bryants Earn Two Trips To Victory Lane

Some sons try to emulate their fathers, but the last two weekends, that role was reversed for the father and son drag racing tandem of Phil and Dustin Bryant.

On July 17, Dustin (below) beat out runner-up Jerry Burdess and a competitive field at the Central Illinois Dragway in Havana to win the Super Pro class in the track's largest turnout of the year.

A week later on July 24, it was Phil's turn as he earned first and a $2,000 payday at Muncie Dragway in Indiana. Bryant dedicated the win to the family of the late Cole Eichelberger, the son of racer Chris Eichelberger and his wife Kim of Litchfield. Eichelberger, who battled Duchenne muscular dystrophy, passed away at the age of 19 on June 3.
