Larry E. Virden, 46, of Collinsville, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, in Edwardsville.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. The funeral service will begin immediately after the visitation at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Harry Kirk will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in rural Ramsey.
Mr. Virden was born Oct. 6, 1975 in Springfield, the son of Larry Lauerle and Doris Elaine (Rhodes) Virden. He married Misty Meyers in 1997 in Vandalia.
Mr. Virden was a truck driver for Amazon and a U.S. Army veteran. He was affiliated with the Central Christian Church in O’Fallon. An avid outdoorsman, he loved racing, hunting and fishing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always helping others. Mr. Virden was considered a hero to his children and all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Virden of Vandalia; fiancee Cherie Jones of Collinsville; children Justice Virden and John Wright of Vandalia, Tyler, Skylar and Jackson Virden of Collinsville, Austin and Daniele Weischedel of Vandalia; and a grandchild, Harlynn Wright.
Mr.. Virden was preceded in death by his father and an infant son.
