Larry Dean Sprankle, 80, of Hillsboro, died at his home the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025.
Services for Mr. Sprankle will be held in Rock Falls at a later date. Hough-Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mr. Sprankle was born on Jan. 5, 1945, in Sterling, the son of John and Marjorie (Piper) Sprankle. He and the former Karen Faye Spencer were married on May 28, 1983, in Rock Falls, and she survives.
He was a member of First Congregational Church in Rock Falls. Additionally, he was a fifty-year member of the IBEW Local #309 in Collinsville. He was employed as a tree trimmer, ensuring trees were a safe distance from power lines to help prevent outages. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Sprankle is survived by his wife, Karen Sprankle of Hillsboro; sons, Dale (Carrie) Knox and Bobby Knox; daughter, Denise (Angelo) Barger of Hillsboro; nephew, Randy (Barbara) Weiser of Peoria; grandchildren, Cody (Tashia) Lohman, Brock (Desiree) Lohman, Trevor Lohman, Tekla Lohman, Bryson (Areil) Knox, Kelsie Knox, Macenzie Knox and Jayci (companion Chris Furlow) White; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie Sprankle; and a sister, Phyllis Weiser.
