Katherine "Katie" Whitehouse, 83, of Litchfield died Tuesday Nov. 28, 2023, at 1:46 a.m. at Heritage Health Care in Litchfield.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield. The Rev. John Hannigan will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service.
Mrs. Whitehouse was born on July 19, 1940, in Litchfield, a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Semplowski) Funk, and the youngest of 13 children. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1958, and married Jack D. Whitehouse on Aug. 3, 1963, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Litchfield.
She was employed as a kitchen and bath designer at RP Lumber before retiring several years ago. She was a huge animal lover and was devoted to caring for her golden retriever, "Bill". Mrs. Whitehouse enjoyed gardening, decorating, fishing, thrifting and attending auctions. She had a great sense of humor that delighted many, and had many interests, but her greatest love was family and friends. She was a talker and never met a stranger. She was one of the sweetest people in the world and will be truly missed.
Mrs. Whitehouse is survived by her three sisters, Helen Zimmerman of Dublin, OH, Sophie Southworth of Litchfield and Edna Nail of Litchfield and brother, Mike (Nancy) Funk of Litchfield; 25 nieces and nephews; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack D. Whitehouse; and sisters Stephanie Ranch and Regina Nail and brothers Lou Funk, Walter Funk, Charles Funk, Stanley Funk, Frank Funk and Joseph Funk.
