Katherine “Kathy” L. Wells, 73, of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at her residence.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Matt Houser officiating. Burial will be held at Clear Springs Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Wells was born June 26, 1948, in Lincoln, to Robert and Elizabeth (Riddle) Gresham. She married David Wells on July 28, 1987, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2013.
She graduated from Atlanta High School in Atlanta.
Mrs. Wells was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She was a loving, caring and generous lady. She owned and operated Kathy’s Cafe, where she was a great cook and loved to bake.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Henry) Moore of Hillsboro, Donald (Lisa) Wheller of Wood River, Tina (Steve) Gallion of O’Fallon, MO, Star (Dennis) Zeller of Litchfield and John (Tracy) Hawkins III of New York; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Barbara, Wayne, Gene, Cindy, Donna Kaye, Ricky, Theresa, Babby, La Donna, Jimmie Dean and Larry.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, America and Dominic; brother, Harold in infancy; and sister, Charmine.
