Karen Marie Butts, 79, of Litchfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at 11:14 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Mrs. Butts was born in Litchfield on March 30, 1944, a daughter of the late Lloyd F. and Pauline (Cruthis) Jones. She graduated from Litchfield Community High School with the class of 1962. She married Donald Franklin Butts on June 24, 1986 in Hillsboro, and he survives.
She was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health for several years. She was then employed by the Litchfield Carnegie Public Library, and retired from there.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Her favorite activities were bowling, fishing and playing bingo.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Timothy (Deb) Lewis of Viola, AR, and daughter, Cynthia (Roger Childers) Lewis of Litchfield; step daughter, Denise (Chuck) Gillette of Donnellson, IA; sister Linda Clevenger of Chatham, IL; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her two pets; dog Bennie and cat Affton.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and her step father, Alfred A. Sample.
