Karen Louise McCracken, 85, of Sorento, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at 5:50 p.m. at her residence.

Funeral Services for Mrs. McCracken will be conducted Monday, Feb. 12, at Noon, at the Sorento Presbyterian Church in Sorento.  Visitation will be held Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Linda Liebsher will officiate, and burial will be in the Reno Bethel Cemetery in Reno. 

Mrs. McCracken was born in Sorento to the late Ralph D. and Geraldine O. (May) Pope.  She was a graduate of Greenville High School.  She married Orin Hugh McCracken on March 14, 1959 in Sorento, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2014. 

Over the years Mrs. McCracken babysat and worked as a CNA and telephone operator. She and her husband owned and operated the Sears catalog store in Greenville. She then went to work for United Stationers in Greenville and retired from there in 2007. 

Mrs. McCracken enjoyed line dancing and singing. Other activities she enjoyed were bowling, doing embroidery work and hunting for mineral rocks and stones. She was also a good cook and baker. 

Mrs. McCracken is survived by her son, David McCracken of Sorento and two daughters, Linda (Jim) Moler of Sorento and Janet (Keith) McCord of Florissant, MO; brother, Russel (Evelyn) Pope of Carlyle and her sister, Geraldine (Lonnie) Griffiths of Sorento;  sister-in-law, Kay Pope of New Orleans, LA; aunt, Shirlene (Andy) Daughtery of Kincaid; grandson Jamie Moler and granddaughter Jackie (Caleb) Brown; three great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Sophia and Gracelynn Brown; and another great-granddaughter on the way.

In addition to her husband, Orin, Mrs. McCracken is preceded in death by her parents, and brother Gary D. Pope.

The family suggests memorial be given to the Sorento Presbyterian Church.
