Karen Huston, 68, of Nokomis, died on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Prumm officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosamond. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ms. Huston was born on Feb. 19, 1958, in French Camp, Stockton, CA, the daughter of Don Sisk and Shirley (Northcraft) Sisk. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She had a deep love for crafting, especially card making and scrapbooking. In her early years, she loved to decorate cakes and made many for family and friends through the years. She also loved to create and build many wood crafts and even playhouses for her grandkids. She found joy in creating meaningful gifts for others, and her thoughtful, creative spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Ms. Huston is survived by her children, Ericka (Brian) Cress of Fillmore, Phillip (Spring) Huston of Nokomis and Ryan Huston of Nokomis; grandchildren, Emily, Addilynn and Kale Cress, Maxwell, Nicholas, William, Zander, Lilly and Dominic Huston and Kadyn and Gage Vedder; great-granddaughter, Ruby Marshall; sisters, Joyce Seddon of Nokomis, DeeDee Steck of Taylorville and Brenda McMain of Taylorville; and brother, Brian Sisk of Taylorville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Heather Vedder; sister, Patricia Eller; and brother, Donnie Sisk.
Memorials may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
