Karen Elaine Chesney, 68, of Butler, died on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chesney will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The Rev. Randy Sands, of Hillsboro Free Methodist Church, will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 19, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Those attending the burial service may gather at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Kirkland Cemetery in Sorento. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements
Mrs. Chesney was born January 16, 1956, in Litchfield, a daughter of Wesley Leroy and Melba Frances (Taylor) Loew. She graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1974. Through the years, she was employed by Roller Derby, Walmart, Cordani’s Bakery of Hillsboro, an area Medi-van driver, and most recently as a caregiver for Help at Home Homecare Services.
She and Bernard William Chesney were married June 21, 1980 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1995.
Mrs. Chesney is survived by a son, Eric (Hannah) Chesney of Greenville; a daughter, Tara Chesney of Butler; a brother, Bradley (Rosalie) Loew of Irving; a sister, Marilyn Thomas of Charleston; and four grandchildren, Peyton & Paxton Chesney and Cheyenne & Wyatt Choat.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joyce Ann Huber; and a brother-in-law, Lee Thomas.
