Joyce Langen, 86, of Taylorville, formerly of Morrisonville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Taylorville Estates.

Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, Aug. 30, at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville.  Rev. John Burnette served as celebrant. Interment followed at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Langen was born on Jan. 13, 1935, in Taylorville, the daughter of the late Earl and Leona (Cross) Bradford.  She married Wayne Langen on August 23, 1969, at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville; he preceded her in death on May 7, 2009.

Mrs. Langen graduated from Morrisonville High School, and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.  She then graduated from Illinois State University with a master’s plus degree in education.  Mrs. Langen worked for over 30 years as a Home Economics Teacher for Riverton, Farmersville, Lincolnwood, Bloomington and then Morrisonville. She was a long-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, as well as a past member of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation.  She enjoyed reading and crafting, and was especially talented at cross-stitch, quilting, and sewing.
