John W. Tossi, 79, of Nokomis, died on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 5:10 p.m., at Pana Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pana.
A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Hall in Nokomis from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Tossi was born on May 31, 1946, in Litchfield, the son of John Walter and Helen (Gray) Tossi. He proudly served his country as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served two years in Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Marksmanship Honors Badge
He is survived by his children, John (Lisa) Tossi of Springfield, Joanne Tossi of Grayslake and Josh (Robyn) Tossi of McHenry; grandchildren, Jaxyn and Justyn Tossi of McHenry; sister, Pat (Carl) Meier of Hawaii; brother-in-law, Jack Tosetti of Nokomis; and several cousins.
Mr. Tossi was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Tosetti; and grandson, Jonathan Tossi.
