John Thomas “Tom” Bullington, 83, of Hillsboro, died at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Eastview Terrace in Sullivan.

As per his wishes, no services will be held.

Mr. Bullington, the son of John T. and Anne (Burnett) Bullington, was born on April 18, 1943, at Camp Forest in Tullahoma, TN.

He served in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he was a still photographer. Often he was working on his own individual orders, doing a large amount of espionage photography. He photographed NATO operations in Turkey, the recovery of space capsules, performances of the Blue Angels, nuclear weapons and many of the Navy’s activities.

After the serving in the Navy, Mr. Bullington returned to New York and worked in advertising before opening his own studio in New York City. Later he worked at Duke University and ended his career with a 30-year run at Cannon. He retired to North Carolina where he built his dream home in the country. He also loved to travel and photograph nature.

Mr. Bullington is survived by his sisters, Jill (Jim) Conway of Hillsboro, Pam (Bill Nettelhorst) Bullington of Fond du Lac, WI, and Joan (Mike) Lawson of Monticello; nieces and nephew, Anjee, Aimee, Ashley, Allie and Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
