John M. Burrow, 71, of Carlinville died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at 9:40 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chesterfield Community Center, located at 115 West Depot St. in Chesterfield. Burial will be held in Keller Cemetery near Chesterfield. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Burrow was born March 26, 1952, in Litchfield, the son of the late John "Sammy" and Esther (Durbin) Burrow. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1970. He was married to Ann M. Murray on December 4, 1971.
He served in the National Guard for 8 years. Mr. Burrow spent most of his life working on the farm, taking care of the livestock and the land.
Mr. Burrow is survived by his children Amee (Duane) Lee of Carlinville, Michael (Beth) Burrow of Chesterfield, Kathleen (Wade) Schmidt of Carlinville, Jeremy (Amy) Burrow of Tennessee, Anne Fullington of Hillsboro, Kara Burrow of Wilsonville and Tyler (Katie) Burrow of Carlinville; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Barbara Mullen, Blanche Martin, Brenda Danley, Belva Willman and Bonnie Frillman and brother, Tom Burrow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Beverly Maguire.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials in John's honor be directed to the Squirrel Bowl/Project Third Day or the Greenfield FFA.
