John Everett Pass, 83, of Litchfield, died Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Gillespie Health and Rehab.
Mr. Pass chose to be an organ donor. Cremation will follow and no services are planned at this time.
Mr. Pass was born in Litchfield on Sept. 2, 1942, the son of John W. and Willa A. (Littrell) Pass, Jr. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1960 and obtained a bachelor of science degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1974. Mr. Pass was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Pass and the former Nancy Jean Bishop were married on Nov. 21, 1964, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing.
Mr. Pass was employed with the Illinois Department of Transportation as an auditor. He was a familiar presence on the streets of Litchfield for many years as an avid runner and bicyclist. He loved working in his yard. Blues music was his passion, and he and his wife attended many concerts through the years. Additionally, he was a voracious reader, particularly enjoying mystery and sci-fi genres.
Mr. Pass is survived by his wife, Nancy Pass of Litchfield; his sons, Sean P. Pass and Sam J. Pass, both of Litchfield; grandson, John D. Pass; and great-grandson, Austin D. Pass.
Mr. Pass was preceded in death by his parents, John and Willa Pass; an infant son, Daniel E. Pass; and a sister, Donna Ray; and her husband, Glenn.
