Jeffrey Charles Martin, 68, of Nokomis, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, located at 200 E. State St. The funeral ceremony will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randy Sands officiating. Burial will follow the ceremony at Glendale Cemetery in rural Fillmore.
Mr. Martin was born Sept. 9, 1955, in Pana, the son of LeRoy and Audrey (Ryan) Martin. He graduated from Witt High School with the class of 1973. Mr. Martin worked for the Kincaid Powerplant for over 30 years until his retirement.
He married Lorraine Sue Alexander on April 14, 1984, in Fillmore, and they enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage. Mr. Martin enjoyed slow pitch softball, golf and hunting. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He always tried to make light of a difficult situation, and was a Major League Baseball history buff. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Martin is survived by his spouse, Lorraine S. Martin of Nokomis; children, Jessica Martin of Nokomis, Bethany (Tyler) Stuhlman of Palmyra, MO, and Benjamin (Shellie) Martin of Taylorville; grandchildren, Brody, Waylon, Addilyn, Henry and Braden; siblings, Edward (Carole) Martin of Witt, Suzanne (Gary) Weller of Witt, Deborah Bruce of Crystal River, FL, James (Sharon) Martin of Witt and Jay (Becki) Martin of Witt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
