James T. Cantrall, 75

James “Jim” Thomas Cantrall, 75, of Springfield, died on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with the Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Cantrall was born April 23, 1946, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, the son of Verney J. and Bette M. (Zulauf) Cantrall. He married Donna Lee Broaddus on Sept. 25, 1995, in Forsyth, MO. Mr. Cantrall graduated from Springfield High School in 1964 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a building supervisor at Roland Properties in Springfield. Mr. Cantrall was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved to go quail hunting with his dogs. Mr. Cantrall also enjoyed dirt track racing. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything.

Mr. Cantrall is survived by his wife; son, James V. Cantrall, of Springfield; two step-sons, Kevin (wife Sarah) DalPozzo of Staunton and Keith (wife Angie)DalPozzo of Sorento; one grandson, Bradley J. Johnson of Sparta; four step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; one brother, Verney J. (wife Tena) Cantrall of Glenarm; and one nephew, Eli Cantrall, of New City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Christine Johnson.
