Howard Martin “Hardy” Huber, 74, of Coffeen, died on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at 5:45 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Jan. 27, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, and Father Jeff Stone, pastor of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Greeville, co-officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Coffeen.

Mr. Huber was born March 18, 1948, in Hillsboro, to Clarence Francis “Slim” and Henrietta Rose (Boas) Huber.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1967 and became a farmer. He lived on the farm in Coffeen his entire life.

Mr. Huber was a longtime memebr of St. John’s Catholic Church in Coffeen and was a past member of the Coffeen Lions Club. He collected toy tractors and loved to grill for all of his friends and garden to share with all of his neighbors.

He is survived by his siblings, Clarence (wife Sue) Huber Jr. of Taylorville, Frank (wife Lana) Huber of Quincy, Nadine (husband Keith) Baldwin of Greenville, Beverly (husband Leo) Kenny and Don (wife Carrie) Huber, both of Coffeen, Brenda (husband Gordon) Galloway of Decatur, Rose (husband Evan) Young of Fillmore and Donna (husband George) Alewelt of Auburn; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Huber was preceded in death by his parents.
