Harry Richard Hawkins, Jr., 75, of Mt. Olive, died from complications arising from heart failure on the morning of July 16, 2022.

A visitation will be held at 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, at Becker’s Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, at St. John Paul II in Mt. Olive. Becker and Son Funeral Home of Mt. Olive is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Hawkins was born on Jan. 15, 1947, in Litchfield, to Harry Richard Hawkins, Sr., and Rita (Vogt) Hawkins.  He married Rebecca (Moscardelli) Hawkins on October 19, 1974.

Mr. Hawkins graduated from Mt. Olive Community High School, attended Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla and served honorably in the US Army while stationed in Alaska. 

Mr. Hawkins valued his family and friends a great deal.  In addition to enjoying golf, he was an avid card player, excelled at poley, and appreciated watching sports, particularly the erstwhile St. Louis Rams Football team as well as the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

He was the founder and president of Hawkeye Steel Sales as well as the founder and president of Titan Tube and Metal.  He served as an alderman for the town of Mt. Olive and was a member of the Jaycees as well as the “Buckeyes.”

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Rebecca; children Gabriel (wife, Nicole Schuster) Hawkins, Sarah Hawkins, and Daniel (wife, Marissa Slattery Hawkins) Hawkins; grandchildren, Anna Hawkins, Jack Hawkins, Noah Hawkins, Becca Hawkins and Wyatt Hawkins; and his siblings, Carol Viehweg, Irene Hindman and Janet Hawkins.
