Harold “Harry” Elmer Odle, Jr., 77, of Litchfield, died in his home surrounded by his loved ones on the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Funeral services for Mr. Odle will be held at noon on Thursday, July 9, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The Rev. Roy Eller of New Hope Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The family asks that those attending the visitation and service wear golf attire to honor Mr. Odle’s memory. A dinner for family and friends will be held at the Litchfield Moose Lodge.
Mr. Odle was born in Litchfield on January 7, 1949, the oldest son of Harold Elmer Odle, Sr. and Mildred Jeannette “Gig” (Booher) Odle. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1967 and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He married the former Susan Jane Weller on April 13, 1973, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. They enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage. Mr. Odle was employed with Litchfield Creamery/Milnot for several years and later as a material handler for the Olin Corporation in Alton. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, VFW Post 3912, Litchfield Moose Lodge 1634 and Eagles Arie 4499.
Mr. Odle was an avid golfer, enjoyed baseball and most sports in general. He was fiercely proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports. One of his best memories was going on an “Honor Flight” with his stepfather, Warren Fraley.
In addition to his wife, Susan, Mr. Odle is survived by his son, Neil (Jolé) of Troy; daughters, Justina (Jay) Trojcak and Trisha Odle, of Litchfield; brothers, Jim (Lois) Odle of Litchfield and John (Sheila) Odle of Fithian; stepsisters, Janet (Gary) Boyce of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, Beverly (Robert) Wille of Troy, Barbara Burk of St. Jacob, Sue (Jeff) Hewitt of Troy, and Carol Fraley of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Carson (Izik) SanMiguel, Courtney (Amanda) Pingleton, Clayton Harbaugh, Caitlynn Harbaugh, Aiden Manley, Olivia Odle, and Jacob Odle; and great-grandchildren, Colson Trimble, Scarlett SanMiguel and Summit Pingleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Warren C. Fraley; an infant son; and a grandson, Brenden Manley.
