Glenda Faye (Kuethe) Trimpe, 87, of Champaign, died peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2:55 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Champaign, 509 S. Mattis Ave. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Caithamer officiating. Burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Champaign. Morgan Memorial Home in Savoy is assisting the family.

Mrs. Trimpe was born Dec. 24, 1935, on the family farm near Witt, to Ernest and M. Viola (Schweizer) Kuethe. She married Robert T. Trimpe on Sept. 9, 1961, in Assumption, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2010.

She graduated from Witt High School with the class of 1953 and attended Illinois State University.

In 1955, Mrs. Trimpe went to work as a hearing stenographer for the Secretary of State’s Office in Springfield in driver’s license division. As a newlywed, she moved to Champaign and continued work as an executive secretary for Robeson’s, University of Illinois, Robert T. Trimpe Law Office, Midwest Television/WCIA and Monsignor Edward J. Duncan.

She was an active volunteer throughout her life in many community organizations including Junior Women’s Club, Junior League, Carle Auxiliary, and as a volunteer with her daughters’ school and youth activities.

Bridge lessons in the late 1960s with a small couples group led to the discovery of her favorite pastime, her many bridge clubs. She was blessed with many lifelong friendships, the joy of travel and support of Illini athletics. She was a 61-year member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Trimpe is survived by her daughters, Roberta (Brian) Davis of Mahomet and Linda Trimpe (Frank) Wisniowski of Fountain Hills, AZ; grandchildren, Brittany Davis of Bellevue, NE, and Brandon Davis of Glendale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean (Kuethe) Crenshaw; and brothers, Wayne and Dale Kuethe.
