Flora Emmons Poppenhouse, 89, of Astoria, OR, died on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation rites were accorded. Hughes-Ransom Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Poppenhouse was born on July 23, 1931, to Allen and Cecilia Emmons in Omaha, NE. She attended many schools as she and her family traveled for her dad's work. Mrs. Poppenhouse graduated from Knappa High School in 1949. After working in the canneries, she married Carl Poppenhouse in 1951 in Astoria, OR. The couple had their first two children in Oregon before moving to Litchfield, where they welcomed two more children to their family. Mrs. Poppenhouse retired from HSHS St. Francis Hospital, in Lithfield, in 1992, and moved back to Astoria, OR, in 1993.
Mrs. Poppenhouse is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Pitchford of Astoria, OR; grandchildren, Matt (Meghann) Gibson of Astoria, OR, Ryan Dawson of Pendleton, OR, Katrina (Johnny) Jones of Hillsboro,Kelly (Wade) Hunt of Litchfield, Tricia (Tommy) Swafford of Argenta; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Poppenhouse.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Michael, Stephen and Chester; and her great-grandson, Jasper Allen Dean Swafford.
