Ethel Lauie Wilson, 85, died peacefully on Sept. 10, 2026, surrounded by her son, Brian Wilson; her daughter, Tracie Wilson-Bowles; and her beloved dogs.

A funeral service was held at First Christian Church in Walnut, on Sept. 15, 2026.

She was laid to rest beside her husband in Centralia on Sept. 16, with a private graveside service.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Tulsa, OK, and lived much of her life in Litchfield before recently making her home in Ohio, IL. She was an active and dedicated member of her community and a true civic leader.  Throughout her life, she generously gave her time and talents to many organizations, including the Jaycees, Women’s Auxiliary, PTA, Girl Scouts of America and Boy Scouts of America. She also served as treasurer of her church and as chairperson of the Litchfield Zoning Commission.

She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She loved playing bridge, crafting and she was an avid gardener. Above all, she was a fierce and devoted lover of animals, especially her cherished fur babies, who brought her immeasurable happiness and companionship.

Mrs. Wilson will be remembered for her generous spirit, her commitment to her community, her love of family and animals, and the many lives she touched throughout her years. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will live on in those who knew her.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her children, Brian Wilson of Ohio, IL and Tracie Wilson-Bowles of Leawood, KS; her grandson, Ian Bowles (Megan) of Kansas City, MO; her granddaughter, Dr. Eva Smith (Nicholas) of Fairway, KS; and her great-grandson, Anderson Bowles of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by her siblings, Allen Brashear (Evelyn “Pixie”) and Kamilla Goostree (Rick), along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Wilson, former news director and announcer for WSMI, who passed away in 1985; her parents, John and Mary (née Jennings) Brashear; her brother, Larry Brashear; and her infant son, Timothy.
