Ethel F. Lash, 70, of Kincaid, formerly of Litchfield, died on Saturday evening, Dec. 6, 2025, at Hallmark Health Care in Carlinville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Litchfield Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lash was born on May 20, 1955, in Litchfield, a daughter of Roy A. and Ida Adaline (Stevens) Bates. She attended Litchfield High School.
She married George Stewart and was later divorced. She then married Harry Lash on July 26, 1985, in Taylorville.
Mrs. Lash was a nurse’s aide for several years. Her passion for caring for others didn’t end there. Mrs. Lash was also a homemaker, caring for and loving all of her children. She was a wonderful cook, who honed her skills cooking at a restaurant. Those great skills made her known for her delicious fried chicken.
Mrs. Lash was a woman of many talents; fishing, hunting for mushrooms, baking and painting were also some hobbies she enjoyed. She more than anything else loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Lash was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott Stewart; stepson, Mark Lash; two great-grandchildren, Darius and Lowgun; brothers, Jim Bates, Larry Payne and Roy L. Bates; and sisters, Pat Reid and Anna Estell.
Mrs. Lash is survived by her husband, Harry D. Lash of Kincaid; son, Kevin (April) Stewart of Butler; daughters, Kim (Tony Pellhum) Stewart of Litchfield and Michelle Kearney of Kincaid; sisters, Carol Jeffers of Litchfield and Tammy Heyen of Kincaid; nine grandchildren, Brittani Vail, Heather Stewart, Jessica Kearney, Skyler Stewart, Karlie Moore, Coltan Wicker, Austin Kearney, Sam Stewart and Kaylee Pellhum; two stepgrandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
