Edward E. Weitekamp, 90, of Raymond, died on Friday Feb. 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by family in Raymond.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 7, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Raymond’s Church. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond, with Fr. Florent officiating. A Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, at St. Raymond Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Raymond Cemetery in Raymond. The family is being assisted by Hough Funeral Home in Raymond.

Mr. Weitekamp was born to Edward  J. and Josephine (Kallal) Weitekamp on June 16, 1933 in Raymond. He married Wilma Oller at St. Mary's in Taylorville on July 13, 1957.

Mr. Weitekamp served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He attended St. Raymond's Catholic Church and was a 70 year member of St. Raymond's K of C Council 4696. For many years he served as a Trustee for the Raymond-Harvel Fire District.

He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. After returning home from being in the service and as a result of the training that he received, Mr. Weitekamp started a machine shop that many area farmers used and relied on him to make that hard to find part or make the needed repair to keep them going.

Mr. Weitekamp is survived by his wife, Wilma; four children, Debra (Mark) Forbes of Morrisonville, Julie (David Doane) Cassidy of Newburgh, IN, Greg (Raquel) Weitekamp of Raymond and Patrick (Bella) Weitekamp of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Gerard Weitekamp; brothers, Charles, Robert and Francis; and sisters, Elizabeth Connor and JoAnn Watson; and two grandchildren.
