Dustin Wayne “Dusty” Rhodes, 41, of Nokomis, formerly of Odin, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 8:05 p.m. at his home.

A local visitation will be held Friday, July 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Nokomis. An additional visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Rhodes was born July 20, 1981, in Centralia, to Michael and Sheila (Reynolds) Rhodes. He married Amanda Archibald on May 16, 2009, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval, and she survives.

He graduated from Odin High School with the class of 1999 and went on to obtain his paramedic license from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield.

Mr. Rhodes was a dispatcher for Marion County EMS before becoming an EMTI, serving the local area. He then went on to become a paramedic and worked for Life Star in Springfield and Rural Med in Greenville. He was also a volunteer member of the local Nokomis-Witt Ambulance Service.

He received the Excellence Award by the State of Illinois and a Certificate of Appreciation for going above and beyond to save a life.

Mr. Rhodes was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed watching wrestling. He enjoyed hunting, being with his family, especially spending time with his son Drake, and going swimming. He enjoyed family outings.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Drake Wayne Rhodes; parents of Odin; in-laws, Greg (Helen) Archibald; maternal grandmother, Janice Reynolds of Odin; sister, Kari (London) Bookhout of Salem; brother, Jerod (special friend Serena) Rhodes of Odin; brother-in-law, Kyle (Kaila) Archibald, Derek (Mariah) Archibald and Ryan (JoAnna) Archibald; nieces, Brooklyn, Tessa and Brynna Bookhout of Salem; nephews, Evan Bookhout of Salem and Rylan Rhodes of Centralia; aunt, Pam (Rich) Justice of Odin; and cousin, Kaylee Justice of Wickliffe, KY.

Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ivan Reynolds; paternal grandparents, James and Wanda Rhodes; special uncle, Bill Harrell; and many aunts and uncles.
