Douglas Michael Perry, 68, of Carlinville, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.
Visitation will be on January 11th from 10-11am at Memorial Christian Church, Carlinville and funeral will follow with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Perry was born Aug. 8, 1955 in Jacksonville, the son of Warren and Ruby (Huson) Perry. He married Joanna Fischer on Nov. 12, 1982.
Mr. Perry served twenty-three years in the United States Army in both active duty and the National Guard and retired as a Master Sergeant. He also served the State of Illinois as a corrections officer for twenty-two years and retired a Sergeant.
Mr. Perry was a loving and devoted husband and father who had a life-long love of learning and was an avid reader. He enjoyed traveling to new and exciting places. He lived a wondrous and adventurous life through his service to his country and a love of history, visiting historic places around the world.
He was a big sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and his hometown football team, the Carlinville Cavaliers.
Mr. Perry is survived by his wife, Joanna, of forty-one years; two sons Jarad (fiancée Margiory) and Shawn; two sisters, Kathy (Don) Dugger and Marylin Boatman; and sister-in-law Sun Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lynn Perry and sister Karen Perry.
