Dorothy “Ann” Hinsch, 97, of Annapolis, MD, died on May 2, 2022.

A private burial was held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro was in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Hinsch was born on Nov. 21, 1924, in Hillsboro, the third child of Claude M. and Hettie Klar. After high school, she moved with her mother to Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was there that she met and married her husband, Yacht Captain William “Bill” Hinsch. They lived in Coral Gables, FL for 40 years, where they raised their son.

In 1991, the couple moved to Micco, FL. In 1996, Mrs. Hinsch moved to Sebastian, FL, where she spent many happy years before moving to Maryland to be closer to her son and his family. Living through the Great Depression, and then seeing high school classmates go to war (and often not return), likely led to her practical, common sense approach to life.

Mrs. Hinsch had an innate ability to connect with everyone she met, of all ages and walks of life, and to make them feel understood. She also enjoyed having fun times with friends and family. Sadly, her later years were taken over by Alzheimer’s Disease, though even as the disease progressed, she touched everyone around her.

Mrs. Hinsch is survived by her devoted son, Jason (Aileen) Hinsch; grandchildren, Wyatt and Charlie; and a nephew, Don Fowler, of Weaverville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother Joe; and her sister, Lois Fowler.
