Donna M. Hosto, 83, of Staunton, died on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Staunton.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 11, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, 205 N. 7th St. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church the Rev. Ben Fiore officiating. Burial will be held at the New Douglas Cemetery. Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston is assisting the family.

Ms. Hosto was born Sept. 8, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to Melvin Leo and Lorain (Mitchell) Johnson.

In her early years of employment, she worked as an airline stewardess with Capital Airlines. She had also previously worked for three years as an aircraft mechanic for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, MO. In addition, she worked as a waitress for 30 years for local restaurants, including The Gardens Restaurant in Litchfield and Nickerson Farms in Mt. Olive.

Ms. Hosto was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas. She was also a member of the church Quilting Guild. She was a member of both the New Douglas and Staunton Senior Citizens groups. She was a volunteer at the Foster Grandparents with the Head Start Program in Benld.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Ms. Hosto is survived by her two sons, Michael J. (wife Margy) Hosto of O’Fallon and David P. (wife Paula) Hosto of Walshville; grandchildren, Shannon Mays, Zachary Hosto, Sharika Mays, Kayla Hosto, Avyon Mays and Ashad Southerland; stepgrandchild, Tabitha Franco; great-grandchildren, Dashara Winston, Douglas Winston and Akirah Rall-Brown; and former spouse, Donald W. Hosto of Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Doris M. Johnson; grandson, Chad Hosto; and brothers, David L. Johnson, Jack C. Johnson and Melvin L. Johnson.
