Donald Lee Hampton, 87, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Bradenton, FL.

There will be no services as per his wishes. Mr. Hampton’s life was one of dedication, love and passion, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born on September 4, 1938, Mr. Hampton dedicated his life to his family and his work, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

Mr. Hampton graduated from Litchfield High School and furthered his education at Southern Illinois University. While living in Taylorville, he built a respected career as a fieldman for Farm Business Farm Management, associated with the University of Illinois, where his work supported many in the agricultural community.  He served farmers in Christian and Shelby Counties in Illinois. 

After retirement he moved to Phoenix, AZ and later Colorado Springs, CO to be close to his grandchildren.  After his cancer returned, Mr. Hampton and his wife, Wanda, followed his son and daughter in-law to a Del Webb community in Bradenton, FL. A loving husband and a great father, Mr. Hampton cherished his family above all.

Mr. Hampton was a long-time member of the Sertoma Club and harbored a passion for sports. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, a dedicated fan of the Illini College basketball and football teams and a big fan of the Denver Broncos football team.

Mr. Hampton is survived by his wife, Wanda Hampton; son, John Hampton; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Hampton; grandsons, Christopher and Austin Hampton; and brother, Paul Hampton.

Mr. Hampton was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hampton and Ina Hall Hampton; stepmother, Lois Grady Hampton; and brother, Carl Hampton.
