Dolores Elaine Rogers, 95, of Litchfield, died at 10:46 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.
Private graveside services for Mrs. Rogers were held Sunday, April 21, at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Pastor Mike Bates, nephew of Mrs. Rogers, officiated.
Mrs. Rogers was born Dec. 14, 1928, in the family home in Litchfield, the youngest of eight children born to Addison Otto and Vera Julia (Traylor) Tinsman. She and Billie Lee Rogers were married Sept. 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2014.
Mrs. Rogers was a graduate of Litchfield High School and Tri County Beauty Academy. She was a well-known hairdresser for 32 years, having a shop in her home on N. Harrison St. in Litchfield. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her Memorial Day BBQ where she served moon pies. Mrs. Rogers will always be remembered for the love she gave her family. She was of the Methodist faith, and was active alongside her husband in the American Legion and VFW.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her sons, Richard Rogers, John (Marty) Rogers and Bart Rogers, all of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Blaide Ferguson, Jason Ferguson, Caitlin (Mitchell) Noll and Mike (Amy) Goodwin; eight great-grandchildren, Rita Noll, Jason Todd, Maycen Wiseman, Laura Alexander, Mercy Gage, Wyatt Ferguson, Mila Wiseman and Emma Wiseman; her “girls”, Patsy, Cathy, Nicole and Courtney; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by two sons, infant David Lee Rogers and James Preston “J.R.” Rogers; three brothers, Allen Tinsman, Vernon Washburn, and William Washburn; four sisters, Marjorie Vincent, Dorothy Bates, Mary Law and Edith DeVore; and daughter-in-law Brenda Rogers.
