Dennis Jon Graden, 80, died at 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at his residence.

Due to increases in COVID cases, private services will be held, with the Rev. Mike Lawton and the Rev. Ralph Ward officiating. Burial will be at Ohlman Cemetery in Ohlman. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Graden was born on Dec. 10, 1940, in Nokomis to the late Gilbert and Geneva Louise (Davis) Graden. He married Irene M. Dahler on Aug. 25, 1962, in Ohlman, and she survives in Hillsboro.

A 1958 graduate of Nokomis High School, he also graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana. Mr. Graden retired from Lincoln Farm Business Management after 30 years, where he assisted farmers in business analysis, tax preparation and estate planning. Prior to that, he worked for Production Credit Association, later called Farm Credit Services. In addition, he was a licensed real estate broker and did farm appraisal work.

A member of the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Mr. Graden was a past member of the Sertoma Club and the Jaycees, as well as Luck-n-Buck Saddle Club. He loved golf, country music, horses and cars. Always a jokester, he had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed helping farmers through his career choice and loved small-town country living.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian Graden of Los Angeles, CA, and Jon Graden of New York City, NY; two brothers, Gerald Graden of Litchfield and Charles (wife Marinel) Graden of Nokomis; a sister-in-law Janet Graden of Nokomis and a brother-in-law Marion (wife Jeanene) Dahler of Nokomis.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David Graden.
