Clow Jo Osborn, 88, of Hillsboro, died on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs.
At her request, no services are scheduled.
Mrs. Osborn was born to Thomas and Lydia (Eveland) Hankins on Oct. 3, 1938, in Hillsboro. She graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1956. She married John Osborn in Schram City, and they were married 68 years. He preceded her in death.
She worked many years at The Hut, a restaurant in Litchfield, and was well-known for her great cooking. In her free time, she enjoyed reading love stories, but her true passion was raising and investing her life in children. Together, she and her husband had nine children. Over the years, they also provided temporary foster care for 126 children. She formed lasting bonds with many of them and they continued to visit with her, years later.
Mrs. Osborn is fondly remembered for always having something going on for the neighborhood kids, keeping them busy with soccer or baseball games in the empty field next door. She was a mother figure to many children in Schram City and in Litchfield, and she always managed to keep them in line. She was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #3912 in Litchfield and she enjoyed playing bingo. She belonged to The Full Gospel Church in Schram City.
Mrs. Osborn is survived by three sons, John “Buck” (companion, Rachel) Osborn, Brian Osborn and Daniel (Kim) Osborn; three daughters, Debra Beattie, Barbara Angle and Victoria White; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, John, she was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Osborn and Jeffery Osborn; her daughter, Mary Jo Osborn; two grandchildren, Serena Kay Hutchins and Dustin Ray Osborn; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Osborn; two sons-in-law, Norman Beatty and Donald Angle; her four brothers, Leonard “Bud” Hankins, Tom Hankins, Alfred “Pino” Hankins and Wayne Hankins; and five sisters; Ruby Shipman, Mildred Jett, Jenny Woods, Mary Hasselbrock and Elizabeth Dwarosack.
