Chris Michael Funk of Taylor Springs, 52, died at 4:41 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Visitation for Mr. Funk will be Monday, Feb. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, where there will be a time for sharing. The Rev. Breck Nelson of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro will officiate. His family encourages anyone who wishes to share stories and memories of Mr. Funk. Burial will follow at Irving Cemetery in Irving.

He was born on June 25, 1971, in Springfield to Michael and Marsha (Williams) Funk of Irving.

Mr. Funk attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro and graduated from Kemper Military School in Boonville, MO. During his lifetime, he lived in Irving, Hillsboro and Taylor Springs.

A member of the First Baptist Church and the Blended Artists Imaginarium Theatre Group, he loved to paint and listen to records, especially blues, Elvis, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. He also loved watching Elvis movies, collecting antique bottles, history (especially family history), collecting vinyl records (which he had an extensive collection) and creating art. Mr. Funk especially loved being a grandpa and his dog, Genghis.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Keegan (wife Riley) Craig of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Avery Robinson, Jackson Craig, Harrison Craig and Noah Craig, all of Hillsboro; a sister, Leslie (husband Jeff) Hudson of Ventura, CA; a niece, Liberty Felix; an aunt, Kim (husband Max) Cress of Hillsboro and several cousins.
