Charles T. Bohmer, 79

Charles T. “Charlie” Bohmer, 79, of Bloomington, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington.  Funeral will follow 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. David Glesne officiating.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. 

Mr. Bohmer was born Feb. 24, 1944, in Chicago, the son of the late Charles S. and Ruth (Anderson) Bohmer. He married Janet Huber on June 7, 1963, in Bloomington and she preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 1999.  He married Lana (Points) Ward on Oct. 1, 2005, in Bloomington and she survives.

Mr. Bohmer graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1963 and Illinois State University in 1968.  He began his career in real estate in 1973 and retired from Coldwell Banker Heart of America Realtors in 2016 after 43 years in the business. While at Coldwell Banker HOA, Mr. Bohmer trained upcoming real estate agents and taught real estate classes at Illinois State.  He dedicated himself to his career and helping others achieve success.

Mr. Bohmer was a lifetime member of the Bloomington-Normal Board of Realtors.  He was an active member of the Jaycees, the Central Illinois Republican Party and the Junior Miss Pageant of Central Illinois. Mr. Bohmer loved golf and playing cards and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Bohmer is survived by his two sons, Terry (Kara) Bohmer of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Charles A. (Dan Taucher) Bohmer of Sugar Grove; four step-children, Tammy Ward of Champaign, Todd Ward of Armington, Teryl Hillsman of Bettendorf, IA, and Joe Ward of Lostant; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Hulteen of Oak Park and brother Glenn (Sally) Bohmer of Esterville, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, Mr. Bohmer was also preceded in death by his parents.
